Natural dyer, weaver, and spinner.

Michelle Parrish has been growing and gathering plants for fiber and dye since 2000, and documents her projects on her blog Local Color Dyes. She is continually in awe of the magic and power of plants, and hopes to inspire others to deepen their appreciation of plants. Michelle earned her Master Weaver Certificate from the Hill Institute in Florence, MA in 2010. She has studied natural dyeing with Michele Wipplinger, Kathy Hattori, Joan Morris, Christine White, and Gasali Adeyemo.

Michelle has taught workshops on growing and using dye plants for many educational and non-profit organizations, including Massachusetts Agriculture in the Classroom, Antioch University (New England), Hampshire College, North Amherst Community Farm, Winrock International, Massachusetts Sheep & Woolcraft Fair, Farm Aid, Snow Farm, and the Smith College Botanic Garden.

She is a former working member at the Shelburne Arts Coop in Shelburne Falls, MA, and a founding member of New England Flax & Linen and Western Massachusetts Fibershed.
