Fibershed Affiliates
Fibershed is a place-based movement with over 75 communities around the world who embrace Fibershed’s mission and vision. Just as the local food movement wants people to “know your farmer,” Fibershed wants people to know who makes their yarn or their clothes and which farms the raw materials come from.
Current textile and fashion systems are based on extractive practices that harm humans and the natural systems of our planet. Dependence on fossil fuel-based synthetic textiles contributes to pollution and the climate crisis. Fibershed affiliates around the world are creating thriving local fiber economies based on natural fibers, care for the land, water, air, and other natural systems, and respect for the labor and rights of farm and textile workers.
